One is outside with heat lamps. Yes\, it’ll be chilly on Nov 9\, so do bundle up. The other space is a huge indoor ballroom space made for WAY more people than our expected 50 or less. The CDC recommends masking indoors and/or keeping distance if you need to unmask for food and drink. We can handle that! \nBookGive offers up to two drinks for each volunteer at the bar. Food will be provided covid safe (no shared or open platter type stuff.) \nThere will be acknowledgments and some fun bookish games. All guests and speakers required to show proof of vaccination and booster. Masks must be worn while not actively sipping or nibbling. \nTickets are $60 per guest and include 3-4 wine tastings\, charcuterie selection and one and a half hours of book and wine expertise and conversation. We will oversee the placement of 10 book-sharing boxes\, choosing locations that will support diverse communities in Denver-area book deserts. Little Free Library supplies the boxes and 200 diverse books to launch each location. BookGive pledges to continue supplying books into the future. \nLess than 25% of children’s books depict non-white characters. Only 3.4% of books have a main character with a disability and 3.1% have a main character who identifies as queer. (Stats here.*) \nBookGive is firmly committed to making sure all readers see characters that represent marginalized groups and have access to authors bringing the full richness of human experience. The book industry has historically centered whiteness giving us all a skewed representation. We stand with Little Free Library’s strong pledge to read and share diverse books\, lifting up marginalized perspectives in publishing. \nOver the course of the summer\, we’ll be identifying ideal locations and working closely with partner organizations like schools\, community centers\, churches\, grocery stores and rec centers where diverse books would be most welcomed and needed. \nTo get involved\, email us!

DESCRIPTION:Join us in celebration of 500\,000 books gifted by BookGive! \n  \nThe Half a Million Stories Gala will be held at the Denver Elks #17 lodge\, located at 2475 W 26th Ave.\, Denver. Doors open at 5pm and the Gala and silent auction will begin at 6pm. \nThere will be a cash bar and dinner will be provided. Dress fancy or casual – we are just excited to have you join us as we share uplifting stories and celebrate volunteers\, donors\, partner organizations and supporters of BookGive!  \nElks Lodge parking is limited\, but there is street parking on the west and east sides of the lodge. \nSilent auction categories include books (of course!)\, food and drink\, entertainment\, local goods and much more! DESCRIPTION:Bust out your dolphin shorts and throw some new double A’s in your walkman for the 80’s-themed Fall Fest benefitting BookGive in Westminster mid-September. Register for a 5K\, 10K or half-marathon and join us for an invigorating morning on the Big Dry Creek Trail. The race is an official BOLDERBoulder Qualifier event. \nBring a book to donate at the race and choose to support BookGive at registration. All-Out will generously match 100% of monetary donations made at registration.
